This week was a lot of fun. I got home late from work Monday night to a surprise anniversary gift from my amazing husband. He bought me a keyboard piano! We didn't really have anywhere to put it so I got the rearrange the furniture the next day and now we have a cute music corner!

On Saturday, the day before our actual anniversary, we went bowling. It was kind of a struggle. . 

And then we went to bear lake for raspberry days. They had live music, a rodeo, a boat parade, and fireworks.

Monday was a boat day, which I thought was the best day to do it when all the activities and food are exciting and you want to explore. We were in charge of the family game night. Dad gave us a spiritual thought in preparation for pioneer day. He talked about their Church history road trip before the cruise and shared testimonies of the early saints.

We played a game called Smurf where you say a sentence, replacing part of it with the word Smurf and whoever is it tries to figure out what Smurf stands for. It's kind of like psychiatrist, if you've played that game.

Tuesday we went to Prince Edward Island. We were going to see Anne of Green gables but the rental car fell through. So we went in a walking tour of the town, a tour of the governor's home, and walked on the board walk. Paul and I went to a modern museum as well before returning to the boat. 

Wednesday we went to Sydney in Nova Scotia. We rented cars and went on a scenic drive of the area. We also went on a little hike that looked over the ocean. It was very beautiful.

Thursday we went to Halifax where we took a taxi tour through town up to Peggy's Cove, which is a little fishing town right on the Atlantic ocean. We had fun taking pictures with the lighthouse, climbing over the rocky shore, and watching the waves come in. We walked through the village too before heading back to Halifax. I think this was my favorite stop of the trip.

In Halifax, Dad, James, Jacob, Paul and I went on the board walk to see more of the city. It was very windy.

On the boat that night Gregg's family set up family feud for the family game night and it was way fun! Unfortunately we didn't win but that was the funnest game night of the trip.

Friday we stopped in Bar Harbor, Maine. This town was so beautiful! And it was crazy that we were on a big island! I had no idea Maine had so many islands. We took a bus to the national Park where we hiked along the shore to a beach. It was so sad because Bethany was so excited to go to the beach but she fell asleep right before we got there and didn't wake up until it was time to get back on the bus. Poor girl. 

Back on the boat we did a lip sync battle as our last game night. It was fun and everyone did a great job. Shout out to Peter for his awesome performance!

Saturday we ported in Boston, got a huge 15 seater van #partyvan. We didn't stay in Boston for very long. We drove by where the Boston tea party happened then drove out to see the minute men museum and Robert Frost's home. Then we went to Walden pond. Bethany and Jessa loved playing on the beach. 

We went to dinner later in an old inn/ restaurant that was originally built in 1716! So crazy, it's older that the country it's in. It was super yummy and our waitresses were so nice. 

The restaurant was across from a little Mill that was made by Henry Ford. It was so beautiful with a little waterfall and River going through it. Everyone was grateful to stick their feet in the water for a quick minute. 

After that we dropped Nathanael, Whitney, and their girls off at the airport. Then we went to our Airbnb and called it a night.

Sunday we drove or to Connecticut to see the Hartford temple. It looked very colonial American, which felt appropriate. After that we went to church then got dropped off at the airport. The fights went by pretty fast. The flight to Philadelphia was only an hour and the flight to salt lake was five hours but we slept through most of it. Our flight got to salt lake 30 minutes early, so we were able to make it back to Logan before midnight.

We definitely had an amazing first cruise experience. I tried escargot and we had a good time with the all you can eat ice cream (along with the all you can eat everything else (; ).

This week was pretty busy. I worked a lot and tried to get everything ready for the cruise. My ministering sisters husband had knee surgery this week, so I took them some dinner. 

Friday we caught our flight to Montreal. It was a long flight but I got a good couple of hours of sleep so that was nice. Montreal was kind of crazy figuring out cars, picking people up, dropping them off, and getting everyone to the boat before it left. Kind of stressful but we all made it to the boat in time!

 

We were in Quebec for Sunday. We meet by the hotel/Castle for a spiritual meeting lead by Uncle Jeff. Then we had lunch and Jacob, Ben, Paul and I wandered around the city until it was time to go back to the boat. Quebec did not disappoint, it is a beautiful city.

July 20,2018 Christensen family Trip

This week was pretty uneventful. We both just worked a lot. 

We are helping the scouts learn a couple of skits to perform at pack meeting. That has been fun but we are nervous because we will be on the cruise when they are performing. One if the scouts mom's is helping us though, so she'll be able to help them while we are gone.

Saturday I went to a hair school here in Logan and a girl I work with at the copper Mill did my hair and I think she did an awesome job. I think it looks just as good as my hair looked for my wedding and it costed so much less! She also put this oil in my hair that made it look so smooth and shiny and soft. 

After I got my hair done, Paul and I made the drive to Brigham City to go to the temple down there. It was Paul's first time there and it was the first time for both of us to be the witness couple. It was very exciting! The Logan temple is having renovations done, so it is closed for the time being.

We went for a walk to the temple today and they have already torn up the whole parking lot surrounding the temple. So it looks like there are going to be some major changes.

We also going out with Cameron and Colette this weekend. They are mostly living in salt lake for the summer so Cameron can work with his brother in law. It was nice to catch up with them.

This week was super fun!

We were assigned to help with the scout breakfast on the fourth of July but they had us come at 12 pm and it was just the boy scouts there, so we left. We had our own breakfast of homemade waffles instead  

We met up with friends for the end of the parade then looked at some booths at the park where we got free watermelon! Then we went up the canyon and roasted hot dogs and smores. We played games like hearts and nine innings before heading home. 

We watched fireworks at the usu football stadium and that was a lot of fun. 

Friday, Paul and I went camping for the first time. We don't have any fancy gear so we just brought up my yoga mat and all our blankets. We cooked our food over the fire and it turned out really good!

We saw a snake in our campground! Too scary!

Paul loved building the fire and burning all the wood he could get his hands on. He kept me busy by having me set up and take down the tent while he was working on the fire. It was really fun for both of us!

Saturday we pulled out some names Paul got from his mom to do sealings. We had to make sure both people had received their endowments so we hopped onto family search and found ten couples that were ready to go! (We're excited to keep working on the stack today). We took those names to the temple and got all of them done! 

We're going over to a friend's today for dinner. The wife is from Mexico and they are making descada, Which Paul says is the only food he really loved from his mission, so he is excited.

We had a great lesson in relief society about how we can make our lives reflect a culture of Christ and how to prepare ourselves and others for the kingdom of God. Doing family history and temple work makes me feel like I am preparing myself for the kingdom of God because of the spirit I feel when I am doing it. I am also helping those on the other side of the veil prepare as well.

This week didn't seem that busy but a lot happened haha

I just want to say that Paul pushed me to be very productive this week. We made it to the gym every day this week, which hasn't happened since the beginning of the summer  Haha and Dad will be happy to know that I've practiced my violin every day as well! 

Paul and I both went to the temple this week but had conflicting schedules so were not able to go together. I took some names Paul's mom gave me to do some initiatory. The ladies at the temple were amazing and so spiritual. Temple work is amazing because you are helping people take those steps to being with their families forever. Paul was able to do a session later that day and was able to get some spiritual guidance on some school decisions he's been thinking about lately. 

Scouts was so fun this last week. It was pack meeting and one of the leaders put together all these water activities for the boys. I think everyone's favorite activities was catapulting water balloons as far as they could. Some went 30 yards!

My manager over staffed for Friday so I got the night off. We ran into a friend in the ward at Smith's and he asked us to go up the canyon with him and his wife. We did smores and games. Paul loved working on the fire.
